Laia, from Barcelona, grew up dancing and when her parents took her to a Swing concert at 19 years old she was hooked.
Gustav, from Sweden, grew up doing all sorts of sports and attending a music school. He found Lindy Hop at Herräng Dance Camp and was instantly obsessed.
They are based in Barcelona, where they are dancing, teaching, learning and also community building at their dance school called El Taller.
Their teaching is focused on rhythm and flow, and Laia especially is keen on getting followers to participate actively and with a strong rhythm in the dance. They both are constantly working on improving their dancing by taking Tap classes, different types of African dance classes as well as practicing their Solo Jazz movement as well as Lindy Hop.
Gustav & Laia are a very active dancing couple and you will often see them in universal festivals and competitions, teaching, dancing wonderful choreos and competing among All star dancers!
This Mediterranean-Scandinavian couple has now been dancing Lindy Hop for 15 years and they are eternally grateful for the opportunities this dance gives them, traveling to all these countries, sharing their love for this African American culture.
🎧She will also be the Dj at our main party on Saturday!🧡
✍🏻And of course our logo & graphics creator 😉
Vassiliki Papadopoulou has been dancing since she was 8 years old, starting with classical ballet, followed by contemporary, ballroom and Latin dances. At the age of 19, she found her passion in Lindy Hop and Vernacular Jazz, which charmed her with the energy and creativity that characterises them. Since then, she has been dancing non stop, having attended numerous workshops in Greece and abroad. She loves teaching, performing and competing. In lindy hop and authentic jazz dances, she finds freedom, energy and joy, as they are for her a way of creative expression and a constant source of inspiration. She is currently located in her hometown, Athens, where she is teaching Lindy Hop & Authentic Jazz as a member of @rhythm_hoppers team!
Ladies & Gents……let’s welcome once more our beloved @athensbalboa Athens Balboa!
Jorgos and Alexandra initially were but two swing dancers with different backgrounds, and even base countries. Their common passion, however, for the dynamic and intimate dance that we call Balboa, led them to create their “Athens Balboa” project in 2019. Since then, they have been spreading the love of Balboa together, through seminars and regular classes, gradually building the small but enthusiastic scene of Balboa in Athens.
Jorgos has been Swing dancing since 1999, in Zurich. In 2004 he took up teaching Lindy Hop, Authentic Jazz, Shag and Blues in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Since 2010 he has devoted himself to Balboa, which he has taught as a local teacher in Schaffhausen and as visiting teacher throughout Central Europe and beyond.
Alexandra discovered Swing dancing in 2010 and ever since she has been an enthusiastic active member of the Athenian swing dance scene, having explored Lindy Hop, Authentic Jazz, Rhythm Tap, and of course, Balboa.
They will be teaching different levels of Balboa dance during the weekend!
